“ Genre: Junior Books / Author: Dr. Seuss / Board book / 10 Pages / Book is published 2003-11-03 by Collins „
I was a huge fan of Dr Seuss when I was little yet as my two year old has very short concentration span I didn't think he was old enough to read the stories I remember from been little however I was delighted to find this Amazing Animals Book by Dr Seuss so immediately bought it.
The book itself is a card book with lift up flaps. It is a glossy card which makes it wipe able and pretty sturdy although some of the flaps my son has bent but this doesn't interfere with the story.
This is a very short book in the Style of Dr Seuss with bright coloured pages that have bright but simple illustrations.
The language is simple but teaches the different concepts for example one page states a Pup in the cup then when you pull the flap down it reveals a cup that has a cup on top of it. These are difficult concepts to explain to a little one so great for developmental understanding.
It has basic rhyming and some humour for example a bear that goes to sit on a chair but as you open the flap there is a cactus in place and a warning not to sit there. Each image is of various animals that not only is a way to introduce little ones but also as they have very expressive faces which helps the child to relate to the animals.
This book appears to be aimed at young preschool children probably from about 2years old and upwards
I can't say that this is my favourite book but it certainly is one that he picks to watch on a regular basis. He does turn the pages and lift the flaps down but he doesn't really understand the humour in the book yet. As it is short it does hold his concentration for the whole book.
This book is RRP is £3.99and available on Amazon for this price.

This is one book in a series of Dr Seuss books and I certainly plan to by more. I would however at this stage say it is one of my favourite books of his to read and this may be why I plan to purchase more.
Highly recommended .
