Angelina Ballerina is a little mouse who loves ballet. She is a favourite in our house and we have many of her books and watch the television show and like to pretend that we are ballerinas too. Angelina's full name is Angelina Jeanette Mouseling and she lives in a village of Chipping Cheddar in London, England. She is a very endearing little mouse and has a very sweet personality. Angelina likes to wear ballerina clothes too and you often see her in a pink tutu and leotard with her ballet slippers on! The famous ballerina Darcey Bussell, OBE calls her, "a magical character who fulfils every little girl's dreams."
One set of the books we have is Angelina's Little Library. This set consists of 6 different little board books together in a nice little cardboard case that keeps them together nicely as a set. I love little books like this because they are always quite short and simple but just long enough to be an interesting and have an entertaining story. The six books in this set are entitled, Angelina dances..., Watch Angelina..., Angelina is..., Angelina loves..., Angelina can... and Angelina wears. Each one is a very simple story. The books are only 4 pages long and each page just contains a word or two that finishes off the sentence started by the title of the book.
I will not go through all of them but I will just tell you about our favourite one of the six, Angelina loves. In this book the title starts out, Angelina loves... then on the next page we see the words her mother and sister, accompanied by a nice drawing of her mother and sister. Then the book continues with her father..., her cousin Henry and finally her Grandma and Grandpa! Each page has a nice drawing of each family member too and I think this is our favourite because it talks about family and that is really important to us in our house. Each book has a similar pattern to the story, e.g. telling us what Angelina can and what Angelina wears.
The illustrations are gorgeous, simple and very effective. They are done by Helen Craig in this book are absolutely beautiful and are quite intricate pencil drawings with lots of colour and detail and they really bring Angelina and her world to life. THe colours in these books are nice and pastel but very pretty and eye-catching. What I also really like about these books is that on the back each one has a part of a picture and when you put all the books together like a puzzle they make a picture of Angelina and her mother, sister and cousin.
The set costs £3.99 from Ladybird books and in my opinion is a cute set for all Angelina fans.
