      A great sound book

My 10 month old daughter has taken a real liking to sound books, those were you press the button to hear a noise that correlates with the pages in the book. So, when in TK Maxx recently, I was looking through their books to see if I could pick up another sound book to add to her collection, when I saw this 'Giggle' sound book, that has been written by Jane Massey and published by Campbell books. It happened to be reduced in TK Maxx to £2 which made it an even better purchase, though I would have paid more.

This is a hardback book with a picture of a baby on the front alongside the sound button, which when pressed, produces a great big baby giggle. With each of the double page spreads, there is some text on one side of the page, which has a nice rhythm and rhyme to it, and on the opposite page are some blown up pictures of some of the items in the text with their words beside them, so it can be used as an early words books as well. For example, there is a page about a baby playing in a paddling pool and splashing in the water, and on the opposite side of the page are pictures and words for the paddling pool, beach ball, sunglasses etc all things that either feature in the text or in the main picture accompanying the text. There are just enough pages in this book to keep my daughters attention, and I regularly use it as a book to keep her amused when she is finishing off her breakfast or dinner and getting bored, or to keep her busy to allow my husband and me to finish our dinner/breakfast. It isn't a book I would use at bedtime because instead of winding her down I would be scared it would get her quite excited, so in my opinion it is a book that is better to share during the day.

When I first brought this book out for my daughter, I assumed because she likes sound book she would like it immediately, however, when I first pressed the giggle button, I thought she was about to cry. After a pages though, she soon realised that it was funny and started giggling every time the button was pressed at the end of the page, and then took to pressing it continually to make herself laugh, and it has proved to be a hit with her. So after a shaky start, it is a definite winner with my daughter.

All in all, for the price I paid, and I would have paid a little more, I am very pleased with this book. Not only does it have the sound button which my daughter loves at the moment, but it has a nice rhyming story along with it and can be used as a picture and word book as well.
