Disadvantages: None
My mum bought this for my sister when she was quite young at around a couple of months to read to her and look at and then when she was old enough to start reading, this was one of the first books we gave her to get her interested in reading. It was around £4.50 when she first purchased it, however now it has decreased in price to about £1.50 from what I can see on places like Amazon.
It is very good quality for the price that you would pay for it, as the pages have never torn or been damaged for us (aside from an incident with some juice that meant slyly prying the pages apart to stop them from being damaged). It is hardly dog eared, and it was read quite often so it's quite good that it hasn't been damaged as much as other books in the collection.
The story is basically about loads of dinosaurs all joining together to have what seems like some kind of party or giant dance. At one point, it seems like a TRex is about to ruin the fun, but he only joins in and then eventually after all this dancing together, all the dinosaurs go to rest..only to begin the next day!
Throughout the book, all the paragraphs are rhymed and simple, which is great if you are trying to teach a child about rhyming easily as it's so clear from this book. On most of the pages, the words will be able to be made into actions eg "Stomp" and "jumping up and down" - so if you are reading this aloud to kids, it's pretty easy to make them act along the story as it goes along.
The design of the book itself is really well done, as the book isn't overloaded with text and combines itself well with large pictures. The dinosaurs themselves are simply cartoony versions and are quite cute looking and smiley, unlike how dinosaurs are usually depicted. The drawings throughout the book are well illustrated, detailed and bright. These graphics are great at attracting kids attention and then keeping it, as my sister was more interested in this book than the others that she would have read to her.
This book was quite well read by my sister, as as she was learning to read she often gravitated more to this book than the others. I suspect this was down to its easy to read content and the fact that it made great use of colours and rhyme. I would really recommend it to anyone looking for a book either to read to their kids or to help them start learning, as it was really well done.
Summary: A great book for those learning to read or to read aloud to kids
