Advantages: Very interesting for young children.
Disadvantages: None!
The book I am going to review is "ELEPHANT WELLYPHANT", written by Nick Sharratt , a very simply written book that amuses and entertains my three year old son immensely!
~~~~~~ THE BOOK ~~~~~~
The book itself is hardback and very brightly illustrated, with the cover featuring two elephants, one grey and one yellow with red Wellington boots, locking trunks.
Also featured on the cover is the statement that this particular book is "an elephantastic novelty book!"
Ok so by now I'm interested!!
The book consists of seven brightly coloured pages with pictures of elephants featured on each one. Nearly every page has a tab to pull or some other feature for the child reader to interact with it.
Each elephant picture has its own unique name below incorporating the word "elephant" into it.
Page one has an elephant, (ok, so your getting the picture, right?), the elephant is however clear with pieces of fruit floating in it with the name "Fruit Jellyphant", ok not the best example, I will mention my favourite and my sons, I don't want to go through the whole book else I feel I would spoil it!
My favourite one is a bright pink elephant that is blushing terribly, when the tab is pulled down by its tail, the tail lifts to real a large green fart cloud with the words PARP, under it, this elephant is called "Rude Smellyphant", I know its pretty base but it makes me giggle!!
My sons favourite elephant has a remote control in its trunk, an arial growing out of its back and a blank television screen on its side, when the tab is pulled at the top of the page it reveals a picture of actual elephants in the wild on the television screen, with the statement "whats on the tellyphant", which my sons takes great delight in shouting, yes you've guessed it "elephants!".
~~~~~~ PRICE AND AVAILABILITY ~~~~~~
As with many of my other book purchases, I was lucky enough to obtain it from "The Book People", for the wonderful price of £5.00, the website for them is www.thebookpeople.com. It is also available from Ebay, for the sum of £7.47, www.ebay.co.uk.
~~~~~~ CONCLUSION ~~~~~~
Well you may be able to gauge my feelings for this book from my review! It's a wonderful vibrant book, full of child friendly jokes and plenty for your child to play with enhancing the storytelling further, This is a book I would highly recommend and I'm sure if my son was reviewing it he would agree whole heartedly!!!
THANKS FOR READING!
Summary: A wonderful child friendly book.
