Advantages: Retrospective characters

Disadvantages: Too many pictures

After I had been to see the London stage production and watching the gripping film war horse I was looking forward to the sequel (some people say sequels aren't as good as the first books and I am sorry to say they are right) Farm Boy but was a little disappointed as quite a lot of the book is taken up by pictures illustrated by Michael foreman even though they are very good I would like a little more text.

War Horse was published in 1982 people didn't think much about it because they still didn't like to talk about war although it was runner up for the Whitbread book award in 1982 it begins at the start of world war one and follows the breathtaking story of Joey (Albert's horse) as he travels across France.

Farm boy however is about Albert's son and Albert's great grandson the plot of the story is that Albert's great grandson is teaching Albert's son to write then eventually he writes a story. Personally I wouldn't recommend this to a friend because it is not as gripping a War horse and Farm boy is for eight to ten year old whereas War horse is 10+ . Overall I much prefer war horse and feel like this hasn't been written very well definitely a change from war.

one good thing about the book is that it is very reasonable overall this is a better book for younger people.

Summary: Not for the age group that war horse was written for
