      Very helpful

A fun book but not a book for bedtime!

      Elusive Anthony
This book was handed down to my daughter from her older nieces, and she also has a copy at nursery so she is quite familiar with it.

This book has a "Where's Wally" feel about it, as on each page you have to find Anthony Ant. As Anthony is on the page with hundreds of other ants this is much harder than you may think!

This is a large soft cover book and is available on amazon secondhand for 1p and upwards and new for - somewhat ridiculously - £35! The cheapest secondhand version with postage is £1.49.

      Anthony's brilliant backpack
Each page is chronologically numbered "The ants came marching 1 by 1" and so on, and is followed by three rhyming endings with an accompanying image. You then have to look for Anthony which will tell you which of the three rhymes is "correct". So Anthony may be banging a drum, tying his shoe or so on.

Anthony's only real distinguishing feature is his red backpack, which can help you find him - although it is absolutely tiny!

      Fun for my little one
My daughter often gets out this book to read and although she doesn't always like looking for Anthony, she likes it for other reasons.

Firstly I think the rhymes appeal to her, and she also seems to like the pictures which are full of tiny details. She often points out lots of little things to me. She also likes counting the ants that accompany the beginning of each rhyme. I think she finds the actual hunt for Anthony a bit frustrating, and she gets bored of it after a while.

      A fun activity book
This is a fun book but it is more of an activity book than a story book really. There is no story as such so I actually think it is good for older children who can start looking for Anthony. So although we like this one and I recommend it, I am giving it four stars as it's a bit of an odd one really- and it's very hard to get hold of now too I think.
