      Enduring stories with huge appeal

Enid Blyton's Amelia Jane stories are the tales of a naughty doll who is always playing tricks on the toys she lives with. They often get their revenge & she's sometimes repentant - but never for long!
These stories have been brought together in a new set of collections, with revamped covers designed to appeal to modern readers.
The ten stories in Good Idea Amelia Jane were first published in the 1950's, yet despite being set ina nursery they seem much less dated than (for example) the Famous Five & Secret Seven books: the old-fashioned language works better maybe when used by toys than by ten-year-olds, & the new dynamic illustrations by Deborah Allright help a lot too.
My eight-year-old adores these books: she is wide-eyed at the mischief that Amelia Jane gets up to, & there's something about her pranks that are naughty enough to delight without alarming the younger reader.
