Definitely one for even the big kids out there

The Goosebumps series was one of my favourites as a child. I used to sit up in bed and read them til late hours of the night- not really recommended as i was nearly always tired at school and sometimes i had nightmares about what i'd just read.

The Dead House is the first of a fantastic series that consists of over 60 books and has over a hundred other books in spin off books, like the Goosebumps 2000 series, the Give Yourself Goosebumps series and the Tales to give you Goosebumps series.

Beautifully written, Stine really draws you in to the setting and gets you to care about his protagonists in a concise yet effective way that allows the reader to become really scared. He also adds in some interesting twists at the end of his stories that very few could see coming.

The Dead House is about a family who move into a new house out in the sticks, and like most children the protagonist is miserable about it. But even from day one strange events unfold- like shaped dustballs appearing out of nowhere- about the house that continue into the graveyard. And the twist at the end is a very intriguing one that makes the rest of the story make complete sense.

My favourites among the series include Say Cheese and Die, The Ghost next Door, the Cuckoo Clock of Doom, Horrorland and the Monster Blood mini series.

Each book is roughly a hundred pages long or thereabouts and can easily be read in one sitting for more advanced readers, or are a great way to get less advanced readers more interested in reading. Primarily these are aimed at 8- 13 year olds but older readers can still enjoy the series as it's collectable and always written in an amazing way.

A great story for anyone who likes a twist!!!

This book, at the moment, surprised me when I looked it up in amazon and saw it at 1p I didn't expect that! Anyway, this book is a book by the best horror author ever, R. L. Stine. This author is great because he draws you into the book from the very first chapters! He describes places very well using adjectival phrases whenever possible.
This book is the first in the series called Goosebumps, the age for it is 8-12, but I think it should be in teenage fiction or young adult, seriously young teenagers will get frightened, I certainly did, and had to finish the book in that day just incase I get a bit freaked out. I love horror books no doubt about that, but always after I finish it I look at certain things. Like when I finished a book about zombies in hyperventilating systems, everywhere I saw a hyperventilating system, I had to back away from it. It freaked me out! This book did exactly the same, I wouldn't go near Gothic houses or graveyards. Even though I'm a goth.

Anyway, this book jumped off my shelf lept into my arms and started making me read it! It was interesting the descriptive made me feel like I was there, or I was a person watching all this happen. These are the sort of books that are so great, because a few measly words and you think someone's telling you how it is. I was shocked at some things and suspicious to others.
I didn't know who to trust! "Welcome to dead house" title doesn't give such an insight into it and doesn't really relate to the book to be honest. At the start, using the title, you would expect there is ghosts living in the house, as you get further into it, you sort of doubt it, until they look at the names on the gravestones...

That's all I'm saying, it's a total must read for all horror lovers, even if you are really old, you'll love it! My grandparents, loved this book, so did my mom and my auntie, I'm reading the 2nd one soon, there will be a review on it pretty soon please rate it when you have the time
I hope I haven't given too much info away, I don't think I have anyway.
