Evil Star - Anthony Horowitz

Premium Review Evil star- Brilliant sequel to Ravens gate (714 words)
by bluestar19 - written on 07/07/08 (Very useful, 489 readings)
Rating:

I have always had taken to Anthony Horowitz and his books, most notably the Alex Rider series. When it became known that he was working on a new series (the power of five), I found myself looking forward to it in great anticipation. The first book in the power of five series called Ravens gate was an enthralling read based on more magical and evil elements and this is again apparent throughout Evil star, the second book in his latest series. At the end of the first book, Ravens gate, Matthew had managed to escape from a peculiar town called Lesser Malling and a sinister women by the name of Mrs Deverill, from the jaws of death. The second book, Evil star begins in ...

Premium Review Ravens gate- brilliant opening to the Power of five series (475 words)

by blackkid - written on 21/06/06 (Somewhat useful, 1000 readings)
Rating:

This book is an excellent read especially for those people who loved the alex rider books and want more horowitz. Basically, without ruining the storyline, there is a boy called Mathew Freeman who, although he doesn't know it has special powers. His mother and father died in a car crfash on the way to a wedding, Matt was meant to be in the car but he was ill, that's what he told his parents anyway. After his parents died Matt becomes a criminal and after one offence he is put on the 'leaf project' and is sent to a small village in Yorkshire. Matt instantly sees that his carer, an old woman called Mrs Deverill is strange. He wants to get out quickly but anyone who tries to help him just ...
