Advantages: Very good story continues, Action-packed & exciting

Disadvantages: A bit hard to understand

Perhaps my favourite book of the Harry Potter series is the Chamber of Secrets. This book has sold 77 million copies worldwide, which is just phenomenal.

This book consists of 18 chapters and is a bit more complex than the previous one. The complexity of the story is what made it so great to me, as it was so exciting to realise what was going on as the plot unfolded, and it was a superb story!

After spending a terrible summer at his Uncle's house with the Dursleys, Harry Potter had an unexpected visit from a little creature called Dobby. Harry had already had his wand, books and other magical merchandise taken away by his horrible Uncle.

However, Dobby warns that it isn't actually safe for Harry to go back to Hogwarts and that danger awaits him! Harry is then rescued by his friend Ron Weasley and his twin brothers after being locked up in his room with bars on the window.

Harry arrives at Hogwarts to find a new 'Defence against the Dark Arts' teacher is working there. Soon, the legendary Chamber of Secrets is opened and what turns out to be a horrifying monster lurks the school. Looking this monster in the eye would petrify you as if you were then unable to move and frozen. After this monster was unleashed around the school, students constantly became petrified, causing chaos around the school and things to be cancelled.

Harry finds out he can speak parseltongue, which is the language of the snakes. Is he the heir of slytherine who can open the chamber of secrets? After all, the sorting hat did have trouble putting Harry in an appropriate house the previous year after almost putting him in Slytherine... The chamber of secrets itself was setup by Lord Voldemort to eliminate all those un-worthy wizards in the school.

The story is very exciting and unravels slowly but surely. The plot turned out to be fantastic, and it's amazing how J.K.Rowling obviously was planning the future stories as well as writing her first stories as already the first one was brilliantly led onto this second story. The writing is fantastic and easy to read, but written in such a way to keep you interested.

I found this book great to read and couldn't put it down! Partly because I was a bit confused on the plot and wanted to find out more, but partly because it was so addicting and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen! This is one of my favourite Harry Potter books.
