I'm back with another opinion on Joanne Rowling's famous scarred hero. This book, number 2 in the series so far, is a great follow up to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Bacis Plot outline:

With the summer dragging at the Dursleys, Harry cannot wait to return to his beloved school, Hogwarts. He is having a terrible time with the Dursleys at 4 Privet Drive.

Harry is visited by a house-elf named Dobby (you will grow to love this character!) who warns Harry against going back to school, he engineers ways to stop him returning. Harry finally goes to stay with Ron, he'd been really sad that neither he nor Hermione had writen - until he found out that Dobby was intercepting the leters so as he'd think he had no friends. He has a great time and goes to Kings Cross (platform 9 3/4 as usual) but finds that he can't go through onto the platform! The boys (as Ron can't get through either) steal Arthur Weasley's flying car to get back to the school.

They get back to school and have huge trouble for their method of transport.

The term begins badly! Strange occurences come up - people are found petrified and a strange message "The Chamber Has Been Opened" has appeared on the wall! A diary which writes itself is Harry's clue to what is going on in with the mysterious Chamber, he finds it OK in the end and has to face Tom Riddle - another incarnation of his arch enemy Voldemort, in a showdown within the Chamber itself. With the new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher being less than no help, Harry, Ron and Hermione do really well in the adventure of their 2nd Year.

Overall:

A worthy 2nd attempt, equals if not surpasses the first book in its excitement levels. It really is a tremendous series of books, suitable for all ages and catering for all tastes. I really reccomend this book.
