This is a review of Hello Kitty Pop Stars Dress Up Sticker Book which my daughter received for Christmas. We are all big fans of both stickers and HK in our house so we often get bought items from the Sanrio range as presents. (Both her and me!). There seems to be no end to the merchandise available to buy these days.
What is it?
In the sticker book, there is a story on the back page which explains: "Hello Kitty is a pop superstar! Use the stickers in this book to dress Hello Kitty for lots of super stylish pop fun. If you change your mind, simply peel off the stickers and start again
In the middle pages of the book you get four sheets of stickers. There are 60 in total and they are technically reusable. I say technically as most of them don't make it on to the pages of the book but get stuck on walls, doors, mummy and daddy and baby sis. A few others get ripped in her excitement to peel them from the page, let's just say she isn't very careful when playing with the book... On the other pages are story lines that set the scene for auditions, interviews, photo shoots etc and you have to choose the outfit from the sticker pages.
I love the page where HK has invited all of her friends to a glamorous showbiz party and the friends are dressed in tux and ball dressers and HK in her vest and knickers (so you have to choose an outfit from the stickers!).
The stickers are all fab and large so great for little fingers to peel from the page. I think this is suitable for 3+ ideally. Children love dressing up and so this is themed well and within their understanding due to the programmes about auditions and pop stars on TV now. We have had lots of fun with the book so far and it is still in great condition. She is happy to sit and do stickers for a while and there is great variety in the outfits you can choose from.
The back cover says that the RRP is £4.99 but it is £3.51 on the book depository website.
This is a high quality publication and well worth the money for your little miss. She will enjoy the story line and scenarios as well as the illustrations and stickers. Hello Kitty is cute and fun and this sticker book is one of the better examples of toy I have seen under the Sanrio license. I know it won't last us forever, despite the stickers being reusable but I would consider buying it again when little sis is old enough to play with one as we have had hours out of this so far. There is another 'dress up' book from the HK range that I will look to buy in the future. I don't hesitate to say "highly recommended".
