In my barn is a cute little board book that my son recieved for Christmas from a relative in America but it is available in the UK too. On the back of the book the synopsis says, "Turn the colourful pages of this irresistible board book to discover just what makes a little horse's home so cozy. Is it the farm friends? Is it the crispy apples? No, it's little horse's family! Bright pictures, a sweet, reassuring message, and an adorable finger puppet fill this book with reading and playtime fun!"
So, what I like about htis book is that its not only a book but its a finger puppet toy as well. The front of the book has a cute little horse made out of felt and at the back of the book there is a little space for you to put your finger in. THe horse is simply attached in just the middle of his body so when you put your finger in the back you are able to make him move up and down and make it look like he is trotting or galloping. The space is big enough for an adult finger but perfect for little fingers and this is the favourite part of the book as far as my little boy is concerned.
Each page has a cut out section, obviously so the little horse can make an appearance in every scene in the book, it's very cleverly done. The pages are all cut to a different degree as the pages go backwards and so this makes the front of the book look like a barn so I think that is why it's so cleverly done. Each page has a really colourful look to it and some very nice illustrations. They are simple but effective and set the scene very well. There is only a small bit of text on every page but as this book is for young children I think that's perfect. It's a cute story and in the end you see the horse galloping home to nuzzle with his family.
The book has an ISBN 978-1-4521-0641-0 and costs £5.99.
