This book features the ever popular character of Maisy the Mouse. Anyone familiar with Maisy will instantly recognise the friendly mouse from the cover of this book, which shows her sitting in bed reading a book.

This is a very simple story which shows Maisy getting ready for bed, carrying out the usual rituals such as brushing her teeth and putting on her pyjamas. When she first gets into bed she finds she can't sleep ... but it's not nothing a quick visit to the loo can't fix!

Simple style

Each page of this book features a few very simple words such as "Maisy has a wash and brushes her teeth." Then on the page opposite is a big, bold image of Maisy doing just that.

The illustrations are very simple - they are almost childlike. They are very appealing to young children as you can see exactly what is going on and there is no clutter in the pictures to confuse or distract a little reader from what is going on!

The story is also really simple and details the bedtime rituals that will be very familiar to a young audience. It may also give them the incentive to carry out some of these rituals themselves after seeing one of their favourite characters going through the nightly motions!

A good read

Overall this is a nice simple book for young readers - although I have to say that this isn't exactly a special or classic book. Although the pictures are quite appealing, I find them a bit too simple and we have books that have a nicer look to them.

Having said that, this is a nice story and it's good to read before bed!

The paperback version of this story is available for just £2.69 with free postage from amazon, which I think is a good price for a nice book, and is good for very young readers - especially those who are getting into the bedtime routine!
