In 1971, Roger Hargreaves created the Mr Men, publishing them first of all in magazines and cartoon strips as well as the now famous books. There were over 40 in the original series, including some that his son, Adam, created after Roger's death in 1988. These all came out after the year 2000, and Mr Christmas is a special edition book. This book, entitled Mr Christmas' Sound Book, is a little bit different to the others, in that it has a button in the bottom right hand corner. The button plays Jingle Bells! In the run up to Christmas I was singing lots of festive songs to my son to get him ready (he's nearly two so was more able to appreciate it this year). Very quickly he latched on to 'Jingle Bells' and started singing it over and over again. He even learnt how to play the first 6 notes on the keyboard! Anyway, unsuprisingly he received lots of jingle bell themed presents and cards and his favourite of all of these was the Mr. Christmas sound book. First things first (and what he discovered first), at the bottom right corner of the book is a button which when pressed plays jingle bells (very loudly).
