Advantages: Character is a good role model

Disadvantages: NONE

Mr Good is a character in the Mr Men collection of books, which were written first by Roger Hargreaves and then later by his son Adam. The collection contains 46 stories with Mr Strong being number 46 and therefore written by Adam Hargreaves rather than Roger.

Mr Good is a roundish shaped character that is white in colour and therefore gives off a pure image that suits his name. He also has a green bowler hat perched on his head and a broad smile on his face. This picture of Mr Good can be found on the front of the book, which is itself square and white. Mr Good's name is then printed in bold block capitals above his head. Turning the book over you will find that the reverse holds smaller pictures of all the other Mr Men characters in the series along with their names and numbers. This is a great little feature as it means you can easily keep track of which books you have and haven't read.

Mr Good's story is printed in the same format as all the others in the collection with black writing on a white background on the left hand side of the book and colourful and cheery pictures on the right. This tried and tested format is great for children of all ages, as the black on white text makes it easy for those started to read to tackle the book and the colourful pictures keep younger (and older) children entertained.

The story itself begins by telling us that Mr Good is very, very good but that he lives in a place called Badland where nobody likes him. Everything in bad land is bad including the trees and of course the weather is always bad. Mr Good can do nothing right as everything nice thing he does always receives something wicked in return. As you can imagine therefore Mr Good is not very happy.

One day Mr Good decided to go for a walk and think about things. Having a lot to think about he walked and walked and walked but because he was so deep in his thoughts he didn't realise how far he had gone. Would Mr Good eventually realise he had been walking for ages? Where would he end up? And what would happen to him there?

This is a really good Mr Men story and definitely worthy of its place in the series. The character himself is quite plain and probably in a lot of ways a little ordinary but it is this that makes him appealing because the story that is told about him sends out a message to all that read it. Furthermore because Mr Good is a good character he does in many ways set a good role model for children.

Mr Good can easily be purchased from any good book store as well as quite a few supermarkets and online. Its RRP is around the £2.50 mark but it can be bought for less if you shop around.

My last point on this book however is that when purchasing the story you must be aware of one thing and that is that once you've purchased one Mr Men book you'll keep going back until you've purchased them all.

Summary: Definitely worthy of a place in the collection
