My First Farm Animals Soft Activity Book

All babies love farm animals and what better way to teach them about farm animals than with, My First Farm Animals soft activity book. I think this is a perfect starter book for babies and one I like to buy as gifts for my friends as well as getting one for my upcoming arrival. The book is from Mothercare as I think they do an excellent range of toys/books that are not only educational but fun as well and good quality.

The book, like it says above, is soft so it's made of fabric. It is held together at the spine with a latch which makes it really easy to turn the pages, especially easy for little fingers. On each page we are introduced to a new farm animal, these being a cow, sheep, pig, horse, duck, sheepdog, donkey and hen so it's quite a comprehensive edition of most of your regular farm animals. Each picture of the animal is also accompanied with the written word, telling you what that animal is so this book is good as it encourages reading and spelling right from the beginning.

What I love about the animals is that they are bright and colourful and look very realistic. According to Mothercare on their tag they write that, "From birth - babies respond to objects and sound. They are drawn to high contrast colours and patterns and the stimulus of movement combined with sound. As they start developing early grasping skills, they are able to reach out and bat at colourful hanging toys that are within easy reach."

The other thing that I love about the animals is that they all have a different texture somewhere on their body. For example, on the sheep it has a fluffy white coat where it's wool is making it something that baby can touch and experience. The book also contains that crinkle fabric that a lot of baby toys too which makes a sound when you touch it.

The book has a red plastic tag on one side which will allow you to hang it onto a pram or car seat making it easy for baby to grab at the book and become interested in it.

The book is suitable from birth and in my opinion a great product.
