Advantages: So much can be learned from this book and it helps with the bedtime routine

Disadvantages: Not a single one

My son received this book as a gift for easter and ever since then we have read this book 'almost' every day to the point that if I try to skip a page he knows immediately and protests. The story is about a Bear called Ted who has fallen out of bed and goes on a wee adventure in the bedroom meeting other characters with the ultimate aim of getting him back into bed. The illustrations in this book are fantastic and the images are not too cluttered which prevents your child from becoming overstimulated before bed. My son has learned many new words and colours (blocks/cars/balloons) from the pictures alone which is great as he likes to point at the images and have me tell him what they are and vice versa. The story is just the right length for a 1-3 year old as my son quickly loses interest if the story is too long and it also has the added bonus of not only telling the tale of Ted's adventure but introducing numbers which will eventually click when my son is ready.

The book itself is actually quite durable as it is the paperback version and my son can be quite rough with his books - I would however, normally get the hardback version as paperback versions have a tendency to disintegrate as we read at least 3 different books everyday. One of the things I didn't realise when we received this book was that it was written by Julia Donaldson, the author of the Gruffalo and I hadn't realised just how many 'great' books that wonderful lady had written. I really do recommend this story for your little ones at bedtime as it does tend to calm my son down ready for bed which is something that most parents struggle with and he actually looks forward to his bedtime routine when he knows that this book is off the shelf.

The paperback version of this book retails at £5.99 in most bookstores however you can currently get it off amazon for £4.39 with free delivery which is superb value. Highly recommended for those of you with little ones who struggle with the bedtime routine.

Summary: A great tale - Will Ted make it back to bed?
