We have a few of the books in the Peppa Pig series, and this ladybird one is one of the newer ones to our collection. I can guarantee that even though the boys have grown past Peppa Pig a little, they still love it really, and enjoy reading the books because they are the stories as seen on the channel 5 TV series.
This particular book sees the Pig family go out on a trip to the local swimming pool. George has never been swimming before so he is a bit scared about getting in, but when he eventually does, he is soon splashing about having fun. When they bump into the Rabbit family, George and Richard Rabbit have swimming floats and splash water everywhere, and Peppa and Rebecca Rabbit claim that they are big and don't splash.
They all have fun until Richard drops his watering can to the bottom of the pool. Luckily Daddy Pig can swim down and get it, and he is thanked by having water poured onto his head. Lovely.
My kids always find the stories really appealing because they involve simple activities that they have experienced, such as a trip out somewhere like the dentist, or the pool, or the shop. They can relate to it. The books are quite short in length, but have enough text in them to keep older pre-schoolers happy. It might be too long for a young toddler. The pages are all really colourful and engaging, and the kids love looking at what they can spot. They also like the naughty things that Peppa and George get up to, as they do the things (like pour water on Dad's head) that they love to do to the adults when we go swimming.
This is paperback, and has a RRP of £4.99. This is appropriate for the quality of the book. I don't always feel the Peppa Pig spin offs from the show are good value, but the books are certainly high quality and entertaining, and get a recommendation from us.
