When my daughter was younger, she really liked Peppa Pig. As she also enjoyed reading books, we were pleased when she was given this little set of books when she was 2. ---About Peppa Pig Peppa Pig is a character from the TV shows of the same name. The show follows her life with her little brother George, her Mummy and Daddy, and all of her friends. The character is suitable for young children up to age 5-6 years and my daughter who is 3 loves it. Peppa gets up to all kinds of mischief like my daughter, but she generally learns something by the end of the episode. ---About the books: The Peppa Pig Fairy Tale Little Library is a collection of 6 mini Peppa Pig books that come in their own cardboard box decorated with a picture of Peppa dressed as a fairy princess. Each of the books has a different colour on the spine and when they are put together in the correct order, they have a picture of George's horse on the sides. The books are like mini board books and each one is about 10cm square. The books tell stories of princess Peppa and her family including Sir George the Brave. They also have their friends in the books. Each of the books is very simple with just 4 double pages in each. There is quite a bit of writing on each page written in wavy black writing. The backs of the books form a jigsaw puzzle that show Peppa and George with the horse. ---Our experiences: My daughter really enjoyed these books as she recognised the characters from watching the TV programmes. They are easy for little hands to hold and the pages being thick means they are easy for her to turn. The pictures are very bright colours so attract her attention. The writing in the books is too much for a young child to read, but does make a nice short story for bed-time (unless you have to read all 6 in one go!). The box they came in has been discarded a long time ago as my daughter used to get frustrated putting them back in, so we just put them straight onto her bookshelves instead. ---And finally: We were very happy with this set of books. My daughter enjoyed looking at the books and would happily take them to bed with her to turn the pages and look at the pictures. They are probably well suited for 2-year olds as now my daughter is 4, she is not as interested in Peppa pig anymore. As these were a present, I don't know the actual price paid, but I have seen them for around £5. This is a reasonable price as you get the 6 books included and I would probably be happy to buy them again at that price.
My youngest daughter really liked Peppa Pig last year and so for her second birthday I out together a Peppa Pig hamper for her and this was one of the items that I put into it. I get the set from Amazon for £3.74 and delivery was free, I have seen a couple of different Peppa Pig library sets but only seen the fairy tale one on Amazon. The set of 6 books comes in a little case which is made of glossy cardboard, one the front of the book holder you have a picture of Peppa Pig stood at the front with a wand and then there is a picture of a castle in the distant background. The spines of all 6 books can be seen, they are all different colours, you get yellow, orange, pale blue, green, pink and purple and if they are in the box in the correct order you are able to see a picture of a horse. The books titles are, Princess Peppa, The Royal Party, The King the Cook and the Wizard, George's Dragon, Sleepy Princess and Sir George the Brave The books are about 3 inches square and they are little board books great for little hands, the books all have rounded corners so no sharp edges for little hands. The books all have a picture on the back of them and when you piece the 6 books together you make a picture of George on a toy horse and Princess Peppa stood in front of him. The stories are all very short and only have 4 double pages in them, the text in most of the books is written in little bubbles like clouds and the text is pretty small. The books are all brightly coloured and they bring in the majority of the characters from the TV show, the whole Pig family is involved in the books as are all of Peppa's friends. Emily loves these books, she cannot manage to get them in and out the holding box by herself but once you get them out for her she will happily sit for ages flicking through all the books and pointing to and naming the different characters, once she gets bored she will bring me or her Daddy the books to be read to her and even her older sister is having a try of reading them to her now. The set was fantastic value and I would give it 5 stars from 5, Emily got these books in September and she still plays with them frequently so I can certainly say they are a hit with her.
In the past few weeks my daughter has become a huge fan of Peppa Pig. We have a few of these mini libraries and my daughter likes the size of the books so I picked her up a Peppa version in Asda which cost £3. The set is basically six square books in a cardboard cover to keep them together. The books are board books making them ideal for younger children as the pages can't be ripped. The books are also wipe clean so sticky finger marks can be wiped away with ease. The six books each feature a different 'Fairytale' featuring Peppa and her brother George. Each of the books is brightly coloured. When the books are in their case there is a picture of a horse visable if they are place in the right order. The books are very simple and feature 5 pages in each one. The story is made up of a series of short sentences. This makes them good for younger children as there is enough there to capture their attention. The books are also heavily illustrated each page has a colourful picture on it. The first book is called 'Princess Peppa' this story is all about Peppa, the castle in which she lives and her family. The second book is called 'Sir George the Brave' and is all about George. The third book is called 'George's Dragon'which is about a dragon Peppa and George meet and become friends with. The fourth book is called 'The King, the cook and the wizard' which is about Peppa's father the King and some of the staff that live at the castle. The fifth book is called 'Sleepy Princess' which is all about bedtime and the final book is called 'The Royal Party' which is about a party at the castle. My daughter loves these books mainly because of the pictures, but because the stories are short she will also listen and not get bored. Another feature to the books is that if they are turned over they make a jigsaw puzzle we enjoy doing this together. We also take these books out with us I have found them quite useful when we are having a meal as my daughter is entertained by them for a long time. I would give these books 5 out of 5 as my daughter loves them.
