      Very helpful

A fun story about the losing milk teeth & the tooth fairy. Includes tips, checklists and more!

I brought a Peppa Pig book a while ago for my daughter called The Tooth Fairy. My daughter used to love Peppa Pig and although she doesn't watch it as much any more, she's still quite fond of it (and certainly still fond of this book).

The book is published by Ladybird and the RRP is £5.99. It's widely available and can be found in most book shops. It's currently selling for £5.06 (with free shipping) on Amazon. The book is quite a large size and has about 27 pages - not too long but certainly long enough to hold a solid story. The text is quite a large size too, which is handy for adults who may be a little short of sight but is also useful for children who are just starting to read. My daughter can read lots of words in this book, although she does still prefer me to read it to her!

The story starts off by telling the reader that Peppa and George have lovely teeth, which they take care of and brush every morning and every evening (on the recommendation of their dentist Doctor Elephant). Peppa and George then decide to play 'dentists' in their bedroom, before going to eat dinner. Whilst eating dinner something drops on to Peppa's plate - it's her tooth! Peppa is worried and doesn't understand, so Mummy Pig explains to her about milk teeth. Peppa learns that milk teeth fall out and new teeth will grow. She also learns that if she puts her tooth under her pillow, the tooth fairy will take it away and leave her a shiny new coin. When it's time for bed Peppa cleans her tooth to make it nice and clean for the tooth fairy! Peppa puts her tooth under her pillow and vows to stay up all night to see the tooth fairy, but soon falls asleep. The tooth fairy comes along, takes Peppa's tooth (whilst commenting on how clean it is) and exchanges it for a coin. When Peppa wakes up, she is very excited to find her coin and can't wait for her next tooth to fall out!

At the end of the story are an extra few pages, which include 'Doctor Elephant's tips for nice healthy teeth' and information on how to brush your teeth, going to the dentist and milk teeth. There is also a diagram which shows you the top teeth and bottom teeth (they are all numbered). Next to the diagram is a chart which you can fill in. The chart has different numbers on it, when a tooth falls out you can work out on the diagram which number tooth it is and then write the date next to it on the chart! On the very last page is a big spotty envelope which children can pop their teeth inside when they fall out. Also included is a small orange envelope addressed to 'The Tooth Fairy in Fairy Land' and a letter which reads 'Dear Tooth Fairy, My tooth fell out today. I've given it an extra special clean so that it is lovely and sparkly for you. I hope you like it! Love from ____'. I think this is a lovely touch and is a special way of celebrating the first loss of a milk tooth (there's only one envelope and letter included so you won't be able to do it with all of their teeth, unless you make your own of course!). Unfortunately the large envelope (which the tooth/coin goes inside) is attached to the book and I'm not sure if retrieving a book from underneath a pillow is going to be too easy! I suppose you could always rip it out if you wanted.

The illustrations are bright, bold, fun, colourful and appear just as they do on television. Each page is filled entirely. The main Peppa Pig characters feature in the book - Peppa, George, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and George's dinosaur.

My daughter and I always enjoy reading this book together. Not only is the story entertaining and fun, but it's informative too. It teaches little ones about milk teeth/the loss of milk teeth, the tooth fairy and how to look after their teeth. It also shows them that losing their teeth is nothing to worry about and is something that can actually be quite fun! My daughter should start losing her teeth within a year and she's quite looking forward to it now after reading this book. The added extras at the back of the book are great too, they're full of useful tips (which sound much more fun when coming from Peppa Pig and Doctor Elephant, rather than boring people!) and you can also keep the chart as a keepsake when all of your child's milk teeth have fallen out.

      I thoroughly recommend!
