From quite an early age Jayden would enjoy watching Peppa Pig on the TV and it would be the only programme he would really show any interest in. Now he is older he does enjoy watching other TV programmes but he still enjoys Peppa Pig.
I have seen quite a lot of Peppa Pig books for sale but I find that with Peppa Pig being pink quite a lot of them can be a bit girly, however recently Jayden went shopping with my parents and came home with the Ladybird Peppa Pig, Peppa's Noisy Boat Trip book, this was ideal for him it incorporated one of his favourite TV programmes but was not too pink and girly either.
Peppa's Noisy Boat Trip book is a square shaped board book, I particularly like these types of books for Jayden as they are durable and he cannot easily damage the pages due to their thickness.
The main feature of this book is the fact that it makes a noise, in the bottom right hand corner there is a large red plastic button, each page has a hole in it in this position so that the button is present on each page and when pressed it make the noise of a boat chugging along with its horn blasting, this is also present on the front cover as well as each page.
The rest of the front cover has the Ladybird logo in the top right hand corner and the Peppa Pig logo with a picture of Peppa Pig in the top left hand corner. The main part of the book is taken up with a picture of Peppa Pig in the foreground wearing a sailors hat and life jacket with Grandpa Pig and George Pig on Grandpa Pigs boat in the background.
The back of the book again contains the Peppa Pig logo with a picture of Peppa Pig and George Pig wearing a pirates hat, underneath is a small sentence about the story, there are also pictures of other Peppa Pig books available. In the bottom left had corner of the book is a small cut which reveals the back of the button which produces the boat noise, this allows you to change the battery by unscrewing the back of the button.
Peppa's Noisy Boat Trip is about Peppa Pig, George Pig and Grandpa Pig going out for a ride of Grandpa Pigs boat, they run into a bit of trouble when Grandpa Pig crashes the boat onto a sandbank, things take a turn for the worse when they loose their only way of contacting Granny Pig, that is until they realise that they have Polly Parrot with them and she can possibly help. Eventually Granny Pig arrives with help in the form of Granddads Dog.
This is a fun story with plenty of opportunity for your little one to press the button on the book to produce boat sounds to go along with the story. The story appears in different positions on each page with the sentences being written in wavy lines rather than the traditional straight lines, the story is written in reasonably large black writing making it stand out on the pages and easy for children to read and follow.
Each double page of the book is taken up with a large colourful picture which follows what is being said in the story. The pictures are detailed without being too complicated and fussy, the pictures will capture your child's attention and help them to follow what is happening in the story.
As well as the story helping develop your child's reading skills and word recognition, the brightly coloured pictures could also help your child learn to recognise colours, for example blue boat, pink pig, green parrot and so on.
Jayden's Peppa's Noisy Boat Trip book came from The Works and cost £2.99 which personally I think is very reasonably, the book will last your child for a long time, it is ideal for you to read to them and as they get older and start to learn to read themselves the style of the writing and the way the book is written will help to develop their skills.
Jayden has had his Peppa Pig, Peppa's Noisy Boat Trip book for a while now and he loves it, he really enjoys sitting and listening to the story being read to him and he also likes to sit and look at the pictures on his own and press the button to make the boat noises.
Whilst Jayden is currently too young to read he really does enjoy books and having stories read to him and he particularly likes this book because of the noises it makes and the bright and colourful pictures.
The board book style makes this book strong and sturdy, everything goes in Jayden's mouth at the moment and the thick pages means that he cannot chew through them and ruin the book.
I particularly like this book as it can be used to help with reading, skills, word recognition and colours, in my opinion it is important to introduce your child to books from an early age and this book is ideal.
I would highly recommend Peppa's Noisy Boat Trip book to anyone, it makes a lovely addition to your child's book collection, it is also not too pink and girly as some of the Peppa Pig merchandise can be.
