      Sweet little book

My youngest daughter is really getting a passion for books, as soon as you sit on the floor she will go and get a book and sit straight down on your knee to read. This book was one we picked up in tesco whilst we were shopping and it cost £5.99 rather than the £8.99 which is the RRP for the book.

The book is a hardbacked board book made for little fingers, the front cover of the book shows Peter Rabbit with his Mother and a couple of ducks. The titel of the book is written in pale blue and the touch and feel is written in lilac so the whole front of the book is very pale in colour just the way the Beatrix Potter Books are. Peter Rabbits tummy id made of a fur like material and my daughter stroke this and says "ahhh"

On the first page of the book you Meet Benjamin Button who is trying to pull up some onions but Peter Rabbit is being lazy and just sits amonst the lettuce. There is a large lettuce leaf next to Peter which is made of a crinkly material and Benjamin Bunnies back is a felt like material, the size of the lettuce leaf is a little strange however as it is nearly as tall as Peter. On the second double page you meet Jeremy Fisher who is sat on a lily pad fishing, Mr Ptolemy Tortoise sits on the riverbank fishing too and the fish are jumping around in the pond with little bits of holographic material to make up some of their scales. On the rthird page you meets the three kittens whose names escape me (it is a long time since I read the Beatrix Potter books) they are playing with their mothers finest silk and velvety curtains book of which are made of material for you child to feel. The next page introduces Miss Tiggy- winkle who is hanging out her washing, there is a patch of grass on this page made of a felt feel material. The final page in the book shows Jemina Puddleduck looking after her little ducks, the ducks have a soft fur feel material on their backs just the same as Peter on the front of the book.

The pictures in the book are quite muted in colours just the same as the traditional Beatrix Potter books, somehow although this is a childrens book and the pictures would usually be bright to grab childrens attention it doesn't matter with this book and the pictures are still beautiful.

My daughter likes reading this book and feeling all the different materials, she associates fur with the word ahhh which I think is because we say this when she strokes the cat or the dogs at home. She will sit happily through the whole book even though there are quite a few words to a page compared to books usually aimed at very young children. We also point out the different animals to her although I don't think she is really taking it in yet.
