Pull-Out Pals Little Pup from Campbell Books is a charming little board book and one which is adored by my two young children.
The book itself consists of just six pages, however at the very end there is a surprise pull out section.
The story follows a young puppy living on a farm. He wishes he was much bigger like all of the other farm animals around him. He goes to each of his farm friends in turn and imitates the things that they do in the hope that he will then somehow become big like them.
He goes to see Big Cow and tries eating green grass, he visits Big Pig and tries wallowing in mud and finally he sees Big Horse and thinks that perhaps trotting will make him big.
At the end of the story Little Pup hasn't been seen for a while and his friends are looking for him. We are prompted to pull the ribbon at the far end of the book and when we do this a pull out section is revealed depicting a very long Daschund.
We have two young children, a son who is almost three and a daughter who is almost one. This book is loved by both of them equally and it is a joy to read to them.
The pages are thick and sturdy, making this book ideal for younger children who might pull or chew at it. Its glossy finish makes it very convenient to wipe clean. The illustrations throughout are rather childlike and very appealing.
Pull out Pals Little Pup has an RRP of £5.99. It is available from Amazon at the slightly reduced price of £5.39 with free delivery.
