      Sammy's Surprise Deliveries

A baby animal lift the flap book.

Sammy is a stork who has just joined the family business, delivering babies!! His father usually does the delivering and tells Sammy to wait until tomorrow but Sammy is an impatient little stork and wants to deliver all the little babies now. Mrs Stork has them wrapped up all ready to go which I think is a really cute way to think this is how babies are delivered. So with them wrapped up ready to go Sammy sets off to deliver all the babies.

Sammy has to deliver new babies to Mr and Mrs Pig, Mr and Mrs Mouse, Mr and Mrs Rabbit, Mr and Mrs Donkey, Mr and Mrs Sheep and Mr and Mrs Dog. This list is written on a nice little flap in the book and on just about every other page there are nice lift up flaps too that in my opinion add to the story and make it fun and interactive for kids.

In his haste Sammy doesn't really pay much attention to what is inside the wrapped up packages and just sees one feature of the baby and makes a decision on where to deliver it based on that. For example, he sees a little pink tail in one of the packages and assumes this baby must be for Mr and Mrs Pig as pigs have pink tails. He goes about in this fashion until all the babies are delivered but at the end the animals are all in a hullabaloo! No one has the correct baby. Can Sammy correct his mistakes before it is too late?

I really like this book and so does my little girl. It's a great way to learn about baby animals and who belongs with who. It is also a wonderful picture book. The illustrations look like they have been drawn with lovely coloured pencils and are bright and colourful. Most of them are full page illustrations so they definitely make an impact. Like I've said above there are lots of flaps which are stuck on quite well, so far I've only had to tape one back on that my daughter has pulled off!

The book is priced at £5.99 and had an ISBN number of 978-0-230-01600-2
