Recommeded for Children aged 1 - 3 years

On our last trip to the library we made a selection of new books, this one included.

This book is from the 'Sign & Singalong' series by Child's Play.

This 10 page hardboard book tells the nursery rhyme
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Touch your nose! Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Touch your toes!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn around!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Touch the ground!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Reach up high!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Touch the sky!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn out the light!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Say Good Night!

Throughout the pages are illustrations of children and their teddy bears doing the actions to the words, touching their nose, touching toes, reaching up high, turning around etc.

On the last double page is the whole rhyme again with teddy bears doing the actions.

The first double page indicates that where written in italics the captions indicate when British Sign Language is illustrated. The italic captions are 'Teddy Bear' and 'Turn out the light!'.

This book uses simple sign language and would be very useful for the development of a child with sensory needs, or indeed the child of a parent with sensory needs.

I have been singing this nursery rhyme with my son for quite a while anyway, with similar actions so having the affirmation that these actions are good for developing basic sign vocabulary is good.

I would recommend this book for ages 1 - 3 years.

Some other books in this series are:
      My First Signs
      Incey Wincey Spider
      Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
      Baa Baa Black Sheep
