It's that time of year again, Christmas and the time when I pull out one of my old classics, The Snowman. I have a couple of boxes of Christmas decorations that we get down from the loft every year and in it I keep all my Christmas bits, be it decorations, toys, plates etc and this book is one of the things I keep in there. Given to me by my mum many years ago I like to keep it special and really only look at it at this time of year. The Snowman is a famous children's book by the wonderful Raymond Briggs and was first published in 1978. In this wordless book, beautifully illustrated with crayons and pastels, a boy wakes up one morning and is excited to find a thick blanket of snow has fallen outside. He decides to build a snowman and later that night the snowman magically comes to life and is invited indoors by the boy.
