Advantages: Educational, sturdy, good detailed photographs

My son will be three years old this coming December and as he grows up he is becoming more and more boyish in his tastes. His world is full of trucks, diggers and lorries and a simple walk to the shops often involves several stops along the road as we watch vehicles pass by.
At the weekend we thought it apt to take him to a transport museum and it was there that he chose his souvenir, a big board book by Picthall and Gunzi titled Trucks on the Road.
This book is a rather simple one consisting of just six sturdy pages. However for little boys like mine it is hugely exciting.
Trucks on the Road depicts five categories of vehicles; transporters, loggers, rubbish trucks, tippers and road trains. Detailed colour photographs make these vehicles stand out against brightly coloured backgrounds. There is a little information about each type of vehicle and the jobs they do, just enough for little minds to take in and just enough to read aloud before your little one eagerly turns over to the next page.
As aforementioned this is a board book. Its sturdy pages make it suitable for younger children who may accidentally tear or chew on pages. We currently finding a new love for board books as although our son is past the stage of damaging them, we have a young baby, just 11 months old, who is beginning to find her feet and our son's books!
Trucks on the Road has an RRP of £4.99. Ours was purchased from a gift shop within Coventry Transport Museum, however it is also available on Amazon and direct from the Picthall and Gunzi website at www.picthallandgunzi.co.uk.
This book has rarely been put away since we purchased it at the weekend. It hold my son's attention and with simple, easy to understand information for little minds it is a great read too.
