I have an older/newer/different version of the picture shown as mine has a bright orange hardback cover and seems bigger, however, Im sure the story is the same.
This fabulous story is about a little T-Rex dinosaur called Reg hatching from his egg only to find a very frightening world!
It follows his adventures as he tries to hide from the other big scary dinosaurs, high up rocky hills, deep in the ocean and even in a smelly swamp!
Everytime he thinks he is safe as it is all peaceful and quiet, the other dinosaurs whoosh, splash and crash past him making him run away again! Eventually the dinosaurs are everywhere and just as you wonder what poor, terrified, little Reg might do next, he feels a funny feeling in his tummy.... what could it be?
Its his Roar!!
In a suprise ending Reg finds his roar and frightens all the other dinosaurs away!!!
As you turn the last page, where Reg finds his roar, the book actually roars VERY loudly, it also vibrates, making you tremble- literally!
It is actually a slightly scary, but very effective ending to a splendid book!
The illustrations are fun and bright with clever holes on each page, changing the pictures as you turn over, creating hiding places for Reg.
The book says it is not suitable for under 36 months due to small parts, I can only think this may be the sound device but this can not be seen or felt anywhere so Im sure with supervision they would be fine. To be honest Id be more concerned about the roar at the end of the book -it really will make them jump!!
RRP is expensive at £10.99 but I was very luck to pick mine up in the TK Max sale for a tiny 70p!!
It is such a unique book with clever repetition and effective fonts throughout the whole book and of course the marvelous twist at the end!
It is a firm favourite in our house but definitely not at quiet time or bedtime!!
THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ! Borrow from a library or search for a bargain, but definitely read it! The kids will love it!(And so will you!- their faces when it roars is VERY funny!)
