      Very helpful

      A good buy

Last Christmas I decided to update my sons art and craft type items and as I was browsing amazon for pencils, felt tips and the like I came across the Usborne boy's activity book which I felt would be a good rainy day activity so I added it to my basket to give along side the other bits and pieces I was buying.

The book is a paper back which is around the size of an A4 piece of paper. The cover is made from a thin card but it does feel quite sturdy but would obviously bend should you not look after the book. The front cover is blue and busy with lots of pictures and I think this really does give an idea of what the book is like inside to be honest.

There are 96 pages in the book and the pages are made from a thick good quality paper. All of the pages are busy and colourful and thus appealing to the eye. The book features various activities including mathematical puzzles, word puzzles, visual puzzles, activities in which you may need to draw or complete a pattern as well as little facts and stickers thrown in there too. The activities change from page to page and I think this helps keep a child interested as they can flick through the book to find something that interests them at a certain moment. There is no need to work through the book in order and this is something that I think is good as you can dip in and out of it as you please.

The book covers all kinds of things that I suppose boys are stereo typically interested in and so it covers things such as reptiles, dinosaurs, heroes and villains, spooky things and such like. My son really enjoys the variety of the book and how there are different things to suit his mood. I like how amongst the fun of the activities in the book there are snippets of information for my son to digest as well as the fact that many of the puzzles require my son to concentrate and use his brain as well so whilst he is having fun he is learning too.

This is an excellent book to take away on holiday I feel or just as a rainy day activity book. I think it is best suited for primary school aged boys rather than younger children as I feel you need to be able to read to best enjoy the bulk of the activities in the book though some spot the difference type activities and stickers would be suitable for younger children. The book has such variety in that it keeps my son busy for a good period of time when he gets it out and he still has so much to do in the book so I feel it was a good investment.

The book cost me around five pounds on amazon before Christmas and it is still available for this amount. I certainly recommend it as it is a well made, colourful and varied book which my son finds interesting and fun. I actually bought the girls version for my friend's daughter's birthday and she also reported back that it was a hit.

Thank you for reading my review!
