Advantages: Great for sensory awareness

Disadvantages: Not suitable for bedtime as a bit too exciting

I love penguins and hope my son will too. We received this as a Christmas gift from a relative and I have to say it makes a great Christmas present for a young child. The that's not my books are great for children as they involve repetition so older toddlers can start to recognise words. For younger children and babies they are great too as they encourage your child to touch and explore the pictures as each picture contains an interesting texture to explore.

The illustrations are good. There are a range of textures from rubbery feet in one picture to the fluffy baby penguin. I like the velvety wings personally. In addition to the penguins there is also a cute little cartoon mouse on each page. The pages are easy for little hands to turn which I like as I want to encourage my son to read and enjoy books. They are also fairly durable and survive well to being thrown around and also given my son's teething pain being chewed!

Overall these are super fun to read with your child and given the current weather pretty apt too! At £5.99 they represent good value although do shop around as sometimes there are bargains to be found online.
The only drawback is that they stimulate my son a bit too much at night time so they are not great for bedtime reading.

Summary: Great fun for reading together
