A brightly coloured book of seaside sensations for very young children.

This is a 14 page board book measuring 16cm by 16cm and is written and illustrated by Linzi West.

      ISBN 1845073428
      RRP £3.99

This book has very bold colourful illustrations that accompany very short rhyming text and is aimed at children between 1 - 4 years.

The story involves a little boy with his dog at the beach. The cover shows the two characters with a sandcastle and a bucket and spade. There are only two words on each page which are descriptive e.g. " soft sand", "warm sun" that I feel relate to the different senses of touch, smell, hear and see.

I think this is an ideal book for very small children as it introduces them to different colours in context. When the grandchildren read this book now we tend to talk about the senses more now and their experiences of visiting the seaside.

It is a very good way of introducing the children to visiting the sea side or for recalling things that they have done on holiday.

I believe Linzi West lives and works by the sea in Lyme Regis which has probably inspired her to draw the lovely book illustrations.

The RRP of £3.99 is a lot to pay for such a small book as there are many others available for this age range, but it is worth looking on Amazon and Ebay as I am sure it can be bought for very much less.
