Kérastase Nutritive Oleo-Relax Elixir Control
by asianesq
Background info:
- I have East Asian (Chinese) hair, so the texture is different (i.e. each individual hair is thicker, and fewer products work on it)
- Due to working as a hair model, my hair's been bleached, coloured, permed, straight permed, chopped short asymmetrically etc
- I am now trying to grow it long and ... healthy again
- Shampoo used: Kerastase Oleo Relax
- "Conditioner" used: Boots Coconut & Almond Intensive Mask
I have been using the Elixir for 2 months now. This serum really does give you the hair-ad shine - a step up from the John Frieda serum I had been using before (though the price is also quite a bit higher: £20+ from the nearly salon).
However, you do only need two or three pumps after towel drying your hair (then comb it through your hair with your fingers), so a tube lasts a long time. It is the only serum I've used so far that gives that much reflection and shine with seemingly very little residue, and it also protects hair against heat during the blowdrying process, so it is a worthwhile investment. Kérastase Soleil Voile Protecteur
by CR1980
The salon where I get my hair done recommends all things Kerastase. I have tried a few shampoos and other bits and pieces, and so decided to try this product on the recommendation of my hairdresser. I have highlighted blonde hair which is shoulder length and in fairly decent condition. My main concern in the sun is drying out my hair ... and losing colour. This product is part of the Soleil range which is all in similar red packaging and also comes as shampoo, conditioner and a treatment.
This product costs around £16 in the salon and a little bit less on lookfantastic.com and other online shops. It comes in a red bottle with a protective lid covering a spray mechanism. The spray is good and can be used from any angle. I had no problems with leaking, either in transit or while it was being used. You can easily see how much is left in the bottle at any time and a bottle would easily suffice for daily use on a two week holiday.
The product smells lovely and fresh. It claims to protect hair from sun, sea and chlorinated water and suggests that you can apply it to dry or damp hair. I always put it on my hair when it was damp. I find that while it does protect my hair so that it doesn't dry out, it feels quite tacky on as it dries in over time. When I'm on a beach holiday I tend to reapply it after swimming and throughout the day and by the end, my hair feels in really desperate need of washing. I would prefer it left my hair feeling a little better during use, and as a result I don't use it on land holidays as I don't like to wander around feeling that my hair needs washed! On the plus side, it washes out easily and seems to provide adequate coverage from the sun, sea and chlorine as claimed.
I have given it three stars because it does do what it says on the tin and my main complaint is the way it leaves my hair feeling when it is on. Read the complete review |

Kérastase Nutritive Nutridefense Anti-Dryness Nutri-Protective Treatment
by melloncollieclie
I have dry , frizzy, coarse 'problematic' hair. It needs a lot of moisture and is prone to frizzing up like mad. I am always on the lookout for products that will 'tame my mane'.
I was reluctant at first to try this as it is expensive, but in a haze of impulse buying I did, and I grateful for my reckless shopping ... habits!
I have used many deep conditioning treatments, usually using one once a week or so, however many are little more than regular conditioner in a tub and I have rarely been impressed enough to repat a purchase. This however is worth the money and I can see myself buying it again.
The packaging is nothing special, clean and colour coded with the rest of the kerastese range, though I do like the little insert under the lid which stops excess water from the shower getting in. As I have unintentionally diluted many a product before by not screwing on the lid tightly enough this is a small but welcome innovation! The instructions for use are clear and the leaflet gives you the usual pseudo-science about what fancy ingredients are contained within.
Using it is very easy and even pleasurable! The instructions said to use two hazelnut sized blobs, and having long very thick hair I was sceptical as my long, very thick hair usually requires me to use a good handful of conditioner I only needed about 3 hazelnut sized blobs! It spread through my hair very easily, and it smells gorgeous with the lovely smell lingering on the hair. Tangles easily combed out when I ran a wide toothed comb through my hair to distribute the product. It rinses out well and leaves hair feeling amazingly silky, my hair hadn't felt that good after a wash for a while!
The results are good, not amazing but good and given my hair's extreme awkwardness I presume the results are even better on those with less stubborn locks! My hair now looks in good condition, shinier than usual and is almost frizz free. The day after my curls and waves are well defined with my hair full of body, my hair is soft, really soft, and not weighed down.
I am very impressed with this and will be buying again despite the high price, but perhaps you do get what you pay for and this is a worthy buy. I would reccomend this to anyone with dry, stressed hair that needs a bit of TLC, either as a once in a while boost or for regular maintence for hair that needs it. It may be too rich for fine, thin hair although the range includes similar products for different hair types. For thick, dry hair that needs a boost this is exellent and well worth the premium price as it is indeed a premium product and I would reccomend it to anyone with this hairtype, as if it can make a different on my stubborn hair it can make a difference to anyone!
