Kérastase Resistance Age Recharge Firming Gel-Masque
Description: Brand: Kerastase / Type: Hair Care.
Anyone who has read any of my earlier reviews (thanks so much, I am genuinely grateful for all reads, rates and comments!) will probably know by now that I am a bit of an addict when it comes to cosmetic ... products. I love products for my body, my bath or my hair and am frequently to be found trying new things. I also have some old favourites too which I keep going back to, simply because I believe them to be the best in their field.
I first tried the Kérastase Resistance Age Recharge Firming Gel-Masque when I was getting my hair done in Saks. They used this treatment on me and I really liked it so bought some before leaving. In hindsight, this was actually a mistake as you tend to pay a bit more for it when purchasing it from the a salon, whereas you can buy it cheaper online. If you are looking to purchase this product, I do recommend that you do your research before buying, so that you get the best possible deal.
The product comes in a 200ml plastic green tub (which comes in a green cardboard box) with a screw off lid which will cost you between £19 and £28. Quite a difference in price! Of course, if you don't mind paying full price and want it now, then pop along to your local Saks where you should be able to buy it, and other items in the range too.
As the name suggests, the product is a gel like consistency which smoothes easily onto hair. My hairstylist recommended that once I had applied it, I wrap a hot damp towel around my hair to help it absorb which I duly did. The product has a really great smell, which is very fruity and quite delicious.
I usually leave the masque on for around 10 minutes, it is good to apply it, wrap the towel around your head and then relax n a bath with a magazine to prevent yourself getting bored at this stage!
Once it is time to remove the product, it rinses off easily, though you can still smell the fragrance through your hair which is nice. My hair already feels more manageable and once blow dried, definitely seems smoother and in better condition.
I find it easy to blow dry and style my hair after using the product and there is a definite difference to the condition, which makes me keep buying this masque. My hair is smooth and silky with no static and feels and smells fab.
Using this masque at home is like getting the treat of visiting a salon but in the comfort of your own bathroom. Yes it is quite expensive but it does last quite well because you don't need to use too much and it isn't an everyday product (I use it around every ten days). It definitely feels like a treat and my hair is left hydrated and in excellent condition. As I have colour treated hair, this is a good way to keep it looking great, so I will continue to buy it - just maybe not from Saks! Read the complete review |

Kérastase Soleil Voile Protecteur
by auntykath9
I decided to treat myself to a bottle of this before going away over the summer. I knew I would be in and out of the sea and in strong sunshine a lot and I wanted to protect my coloured hair as much as I could. This product is meant to have UV defence and stop hair from being damaged by salt water and the spray seemed convenient so I ... bought it, knowing that Kerastase products have a good reputation.
The bottle itself looks very nice and is a red pump, not a huge size so good for travelling. It sprays a fine mist which has a pretty watermelon-y smell that lingers on your hair. But, I have to say, I really did not like the texture of it and the way it made my hair feel. It seemed to coat my hair and make it feel brittle and straw like. I will admit here that my hair was not in the best possible condition and I was in and out of the sea/sun constantly so maybe it was too much too ask that it made my hair nice and soft!
But I just don't feel that this product helped my hair at all, despite reapplying it throughout the day - my hair colour seemed to get bleached by the sun quicker than it had on past trips, and was incredibly light coloured and damaged by the time I left. I honestly don't think this spray did me any good at all, which is disappointing considering it's not cheap. I left the remains of the bottle behind when I came back! My advice - save your cash and wear a hat... Read the complete review |

Kérastase Resistance Age Recharge Firming Gel-Masque
by Savvybunny2009
I bought the Kerastase resistance age recharge masque on advice from my hairdresser last year, I was quite surprised she had mentioned that I could by it from another hairdressers across the road. With my hair being in good condition and hydrated but fine and breaking easily, she had suggested that I give this range a go, in her opinion ... it would do wonders for my locks and lift my roots giving me more volume and much needed strength. I had no reason to question her, after all she had recommended a product which was sold by a competitor.
Kerastase is a well known name in the hairdressing world delivering high quality results using the high quality nourishing ingredients. Currently as these are professional products meant for salon use, you can only buy these from the hairdressers RUSH currently, although you can also find this product online for a reasonable price too. This product retails anywhere from £18.99 - £27.99, depending on which site you use or if you buy in the hairdressers.
The packaging is a jade green, slightly shiny looking box with the Kerastase logo and the product name. Inside is an instruction leaflet printed on a thin piece of folded paper, like the little booklets you get in hairdyes. The container itself is a dark grass green with a light green mint lid and has the Kerastase logo and the product name, with the ingredients listed on the reverse.
I'm hoping this mask lives up to it's claims. We are looking for the mask to add shine and make the hairshaft more resilient and stronger, it should lift hair giving it more volume and hopefully leave it smelling gorgeous too. I would expect to style my hair easier after application and for my hair to be tangle free. We shall see if it lives up to expectations.
Upon opening the container I'm met with a strange gel with a thick consistency but has a fragrant aroma, maybe slightly floral, I am unable to place it. I dampen my hair and take a small amount of gel, the size of a 2 pence peice and apply liberally throughout my hair and check I have applied it evenly. Instructions say to leave in for 5 minutes however I quite fancy a coffee whilst I wait and surely another 10 minutes can't make a difference right? 15 minutes up I rush past hubby to the bathroom, much at his annoyance to wash out the masque. As I wash my hair through I can already tell it had left my hair silky smooth, and instantly feel at ease. Once I had removed all the product it seemed to leave my hair quite heavy so a quick light shampoo after using it seemed to fix that.
Now for the real test and see the final results, a (not so) quick blowdry and straighten and I'm beaming! I found it very easy to dry my hair as it wasn't tangled and very soft, not greasy as I would have expected from a masque. I was disappointed that my hair had not lifted so I didn't have the volume of a goddess but my hair smelt fantastic, it is exactly the same smell as when I walk out of the hairdressers, you know, that new highlighted/haircut smell from the products they use? To top it all it gave a very natural high glossy shine, many products I have used give a greasy shine but this one definately did not. Most importantly after the first use I was impressed with the quality of my hair but after a few uses my hair has become noticeably stronger. This product does well for the claims it makes.
All in all a good product but I would not buy again unfortunately due to the price. If you use the product once a week then it may last a while and make it worth the money but it does seem to get used up very quickly. I think it may be because the gel has a thick consistency you tend to take out more than you realise? It wouldn't be ideal to use daily due to the heaviness of the product and fine hair types would need to lightly shampoo to remove product excess. Read the complete review |
