Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Riche
by I-tried-this
Kerastase Bain Chroma Riche Shampoo.
I paid a fraction over £9 for this on wantthelook.com when they had an extra 10% off day but it can be picked up for around £10 at the moment on many other websites. In salons it's around £13.50 for 200mls.
I bought this to use as a product to help retain the colour in my hair ... after colouring it a deep claret red (its naturally dark blonde). And also to use with other Kerastase products-also reviewed on the site.
The shampoo, like all the other Kerastase shampoos, comes in an upright bottle, screw top lid and this cylinder type bottle is a nice styled transparent dark pink/purple. It's designed to retain colour whilst caring for coloured hair. I can say it smells nice, floral, sort of slightly rose scented. It's a gel type thickened liquid which would be nicer thicker, but is really just as thin as any other shampoo.
It lathers really well, only takes what looks like 2x 50p coin sizes (-though it's hard to say as its too liquid to remain still once in the palm of my hand). It rinses well too and does leave my hair feeling cleaned without feeling overly dry or brittle. I liked this shampoo.
After using this (one wash), I followed with either a conditioner, or a hair masque and a conditioner and sometimes leave in products- so were talking a lot of product here! And I don't think they would have worked without me having a clean head of hair in the first place. I can vouch for the product getting rid of both the build-up of products and also the sweat, grease and grime you naturally pick up whilst sweating it out at the gym, on public transport or day to day fiddling with your hair.
It also did a great job of not washing out the colour in my hair, its only been a week I have to say, but the colour is still going strong when normally by now there would be some tell tell signs. I wouldn't say it's a miracle product at all, but I would recommend this for a good hair cleaner whilst trying to retain the colour of your hair. It certainly did help with my colour, just can't help thinking, is that it?! Read the complete review |

Kerastase Resistance Ciment Anti-USure
by I-tried-this
Kerastase Ciment Anti U-Sure.
This set me back £13 for 200mls after spotting a web offer on wantthelook.com, the last of the big spenders, this was a result of a splurge on hair care after my birthday (I made a new years resolution for no more cosmetics, so far I have not done too badly but my hair care spending has ... sky-rocketed!). Normally this would cost around £17.50 in salons for 200mls. I paid less then this as I bought it on offer at lookfantastic for around £12. Still amazingly high. Am I mad? Yup! (It was my birthday...!) Am I happy with my purchase? Very!
I used this with other Kerastase products after choosing the best of what I could to support my coloured hair after reading reviews on other sites (makeupalley) it seemed overwhelmingly that this conditioner was better to use for my hair then Kerastases' own Chrome Riche (conditioner for coloured hair). Although this does say on the Kerastase site that it's well suited for my hair type. (Coloured and damaged). It's designed to reinforce and refinish damaged ends and lengths of your hair.
The conditioner comes in a squeezy matte, pale blue/green cone type tube with a dark green lid. It smells really nice, mild and slightly fruity/sweet with no overwhelming harsh chemical scent. Its odd, to me, it smelt 'blue'. Like when your at school and you drink a blue drink that tastes, well, blue. Not sure how else I would describe it- I liked the smell anyway!
It is a pale blue/green very runny conditioner- not milk like, but more like double cream then thick cream. It could have done with some thickening up as it's hard to gauge how much you're using whilst putting the cap back on the bottle- annoying if you're like me and have to put things away as you use them, not afterwards.
I have to say I noticed this straight away in the shower- as soon as I began to wash it out it was like my hair felt transformed- sleeker and much smoother and silkier. It almost felt a shame to rinse it out! But it does rinse out easily. Just for namesake, I did leave it in for about 60 seconds, it does recommend this. I tend to do with all conditioners, anyway just long enough to either apply shower gel or shave if you get bored).
After using it, I blow dried my hair. No visual difference aside from the colour staying put it was still frizzy- slightly less then when using Goldwell and John Frieda Serum, but nothing to write home about. I did notice it was soft to touch, felt easy to brush and felt strong against the yanking of my hair brush.
I will score this 4 out of 5. I wasn't sure if I should give it a 3 or a 4 as it's a good product, it does a good job of conditioning my hair, leaving it feeling really soft, smooth and strong. It could have done more- it could have helped with the frizz I get when blow drying and it could have been thicker and easier to apply, I would have also preferred a clip shut lid instead of a wind cap lid, and it is very expensive. I would think this would last me around 2 months, so average for me. That's about 40p a wash (4 times a week for 8 weeks). Its something I would buy again if I do come into money again (so my birthday next year then...) and had it been on the shelves in Boots at the same price as other hair care products I'd have snapped it up in no time as its much better then other products I've used, but its not a genius product. It's just very good. 3/ 4 out of 5. Read the complete review |

Kérastase Reflection Chroma Reflect Rich Radiance-Enhancing Masque
by I-tried-this
Kerastase, by L'Oreal are a very high priced hair care brand. Normally available only in Salons, you can buy over the net with up to 30% off in some places. Having won a competition for another Kerastase product (to be reviewed elsewhere on here) I found myself sucked in and wanted to try the rest- if one product could transform my hair ... that much, I wanted to know what the whole set would do!
I bought this as I had read that "you do not mix Kerastase with anything" rule, apparently it even means across different lines of Kerastase items. So being that I already owned the Chroma Bain (meaning "purple coloured bottle of shampoo") I decided to E-bay the masque.
I have coloured, damaged frizzy out of control hair. If I don't look after it to a point, it looks like I have decided to don a Halloween wig.
Now here is my confession. I hate drying my hair. I hate it because it's boring, and irritating, and just never seems to dry. To speed this up, I use two hair driers, on high power, high heat, and blast my hair within inches of the drier. And as a result, my hair is frizzy and now damaged. It's also damaged as I have had it dyed, lightened, and dyed again. Its yellowy red, and not in a good way. I do dye and have been dyeing it for over 10 years now, and the colour is a very bright red, so fades very fast. I wanted to retain this colour for as long as I could.
I had just recently had it dyed when I bought this masque. I wanted to retain the colour and this masque seemed to promise to help that- plus to help keep the colour by ridding all the dirt and build up to make my colour seem dull. And then to add reflective particles.
Sounded like a dream! And for the grand price of £11 including delivery (its normally £25 in stores!!)
I have to say, the pot looks very big- it's only 200mls, but it's a shape that really oozes a luxury feel. It has a screw lid and is purple/pink all over. It is a shame it does look good as I end up putting it into a smaller pot so I can take it to the gym with me anyway, but nice to have on my bathroom shelf anyway, even if I don't use it at home.
The masque is thick enough to hold its shape when in your hand, but still on the thin side. It smells really nice; like roses, and glosses on to hair very easily.
I have tried applying this and leaving it on anywhere from 1 minute, to 15 minutes, I have known people to leave it on for 30 minutes and they rate the results. To me, I just don't have the time or patients!
Washing out is also easy- you get a really silky feeling as your rinsing, and it's easy to know when it's been rinsed out as your hair feels more like hair again. It's almost a shame to rinse!
Now you are supposed to follow with a conditioner and I had done for each time I used it. (And yes, it was a Kerastase conditioner for coloured hair). But here's where the story ends.
I have to say, that I have been using the masque twice a week for 3 weeks now. My colour has faded. Not terribly, and not as bad as it has done, but it has faded noticeably. I would still rate this as I can still notice a big difference in the fading (it's not as bad as it has been) but it's not perfect. And for a price tag of £25 (even though I paid £11) I would expect more from a masque then this.
It did help my hair to feel softer and certainly on the days I didn't use the masque, I did feel it was slightly grittier. But nothing major. I guess the masque works a little, but not really enough- not for me with my bright red hair anyway!
Maybe this works better with blonde hair as I know bright red is easy to fade. I also think the promises of reflective hair and getting rid of build-up dirt would apply more to someone with blonde hair over someone with dyed red hair, be good to hear how others get on in comparison.
