Advantages: Did a great job at making my hair feel smooth, reducing frizziness and creating good hair days!
Disadvantages: If anything it could have done more to help the frizz, but I am happy with what it did do.
Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique.
Well I won this curtosy of a Kerastase competition I won earlier this year- I never normally win anything so this was very much appreciated!
It's designed to be used after washing as a sort of leave in heat protection cream. Your instructed to apply a walnut sized blob to the ends of your hair and brush through, then more as you brush upwards...for me, this was too much like hard work, so I got a blob about walnut sized (maybe bigger) and smeared it into my palms, then onto the mid section of my hair and then through the rest of it. (I gather it's not for roots of hair). Then brush through then blow dry.
I should say here a bit about my main. It's damaged. Very much so, its much better then it was thanks to using products from Goldwell (see previous review) but it still looks frizzy and has split ends like crazy. I don't help it much to be honest- I don't straighten my hair any longer, but that's as I don't have access to GHDs, so instead I use two blow-driers on it at the same time, full heat, full power, blasting it 2 or 3 inches away from my scalp to get my shoulder length hair dry as quickly as possible. I do this 3 to 4 times a week (any more washing makes my hair too dry so I try not to), its also been dyed, bleached, highlighted all many thanks to wonderful hair dressing students (slowly- with time for the bleach to settle in big time!) all in the past 12 months, added to this the addiction I did have to GHDs around 6 months ago which lasted for a good 18 months (I did get it down to only twice a week after 9 months...) so in a way I am lucky my hair is not much worse! But there now is a clear dividing line on my hair- half is damaged and frizzy madness, the other (top half) is smooth, even in texture and far calmer.
I used this after using a Kerastase shampoo conditioner and masque (which I reviewed elsewhere on Dooyoo). I tried once using the shampoo/conditioner/masque without the Nectar Thermique, and once afterwards. I have to say I did notice a big difference!
The product itself would normally cost anything from £13.50 upwards depending on where you buy it from; prices vary as it can be found on salon websites and also in salons. Postage can also make a difference.
I found that the frizz was gone after using this- like totally gone! Yes the split ends were still there, but not as bad as before- and really not very noticeable. Frizz had vanished, my hair now fell down to my shoulders instead of growing outwards (and yes this is after using two blow-driers to blast it dry). It brushed easily and also felt very much softer and looked glossier. The softness has lasts at least a good two days (OK, 1 and a half) until my next wash- still my hair is easy to brush and looks glossy and feels very soft and smooth. There is a noticeable difference after using this product in the way my hair feels in my hands. If there is one Kerastase product I will buy again, it will be this.
The only ways in which I would improve on this product would be if it could keep my hair from needing to be brushed throughout the day. (Nothing can do that- I travel on windy tubes and drizzly equally blowy, rainy streets!) It is a big-ask as I know many salons now charge £200 upwards to create a blow dry style and use a product that means the blow dry style stays put for around 6 weeks. But it would be nice to have this sort of thing in one product! I'm not going to mark the product down on that as it is not what it promises to do, what it does promise is Nourishing care for dry to very dry hair, and that I can say it does and does very well.
Summary: Will buy again (if I can afford it!)
