Advantages: Did help the colour stay put after having it dyed.
Disadvantages: Did not help my frizz, did not brighten the colour, just retained it.
Kerastase Bain Chroma Riche Shampoo.
I paid a fraction over £9 for this on wantthelook.com when they had an extra 10% off day but it can be picked up for around £10 at the moment on many other websites. In salons it's around £13.50 for 200mls.
I bought this to use as a product to help retain the colour in my hair after colouring it a deep claret red (its naturally dark blonde). And also to use with other Kerastase products-also reviewed on the site.
The shampoo, like all the other Kerastase shampoos, comes in an upright bottle, screw top lid and this cylinder type bottle is a nice styled transparent dark pink/purple. It's designed to retain colour whilst caring for coloured hair. I can say it smells nice, floral, sort of slightly rose scented. It's a gel type thickened liquid which would be nicer thicker, but is really just as thin as any other shampoo.
It lathers really well, only takes what looks like 2x 50p coin sizes (-though it's hard to say as its too liquid to remain still once in the palm of my hand). It rinses well too and does leave my hair feeling cleaned without feeling overly dry or brittle. I liked this shampoo.
After using this (one wash), I followed with either a conditioner, or a hair masque and a conditioner and sometimes leave in products- so were talking a lot of product here! And I don't think they would have worked without me having a clean head of hair in the first place. I can vouch for the product getting rid of both the build-up of products and also the sweat, grease and grime you naturally pick up whilst sweating it out at the gym, on public transport or day to day fiddling with your hair.
It also did a great job of not washing out the colour in my hair, its only been a week I have to say, but the colour is still going strong when normally by now there would be some tell tell signs. I wouldn't say it's a miracle product at all, but I would recommend this for a good hair cleaner whilst trying to retain the colour of your hair. It certainly did help with my colour, just can't help thinking, is that it?!
Summary: Wish it could have done more.
