Asda Smart Price Kettle
Advantages: Cheap, Easy To Use, Clean, & Hold The Temperature For A While After Its Boiled
Disadvantages: Cant Buy Online, You Need To Go Into The Store To Purchase The Kettle
My other half was making me a cup of tea (makes a change) when he realised that the kettle had boiled much quicker than he thought it would of. As he hardly ever makes a cuppa, I just thought that he was talking nonsense as usual. However, later that day I was feeling the cold so I filled the kettle and waited on it boiling. I hadn't noticed any unusual noises but true enough the kettles switch had flicked much quicker than usual. Never the less I filled the hot water bottle and while the water was still hot, it is clear by my observation, that the water wasn't boiling like it should be.
Unfortunately for me I realised that my trusted Smart Price kettle (like the one in this picture) had given up hope and it's life had come to an end. As I carefully went to put it out for the rubbish men, I had noticed that part of the plastic on the unit had melted. I am very lucky that house hadn't been set on fire or that any one using it had been electrocuted. I'm not sure if the kettle had a built in safety cut out or not, but cant help but wonder if this is why the kettle stopped taking as long to boil. So off I went to find myself a new kettle.
Years ago I used to like fancy kettles that light up different colours when you flicked the switch, but as you get older you tend to realise that as long as it does the job it doesn't really matter what it looks like. As my last kettle lasted for roughly 4 years, I decided to head back to ASDA for another Smart Price kettle.

When I picked up the box, I had noticed that the design had changed slightly compared to my last Smart Price Kettle. The design is much more basic but still pleasantly appealing. The kettle only comes in one colour, white, which seemed to me much more smaller than my last but when I checked how much water it held, it was exactly the same, holding 1.7 litres. I had also noticed that it is much lighter to hold when filled than most kettles and while the handle is non slip, there are no easy hold grips on the handle like the last Smart Price kettle. I like the fact that next to the water level indicator, like all kettles there are marks telling you how many litres your filling the kettle up to. But this one also tells you how many cups of tea you will get out of the kettle depending on where you fill the water. The water is put into the kettle with great ease by removing the plastic handle of the kettle. This slots back into place with great efficiency. And like any other kettle the switch lights up red when you press it down to let you know that it is working. This Smart Price kettle is easy to fill, pour and clean, it boils the water to the right temperature and maintains the hot temperature of the water for quite a while after boiling.
I would recommend this Smart Price kettle for all ages of the public who wish to buy a white goods kettle. Not only is it easy to fill, use, clean and hold, it is also a bargain. The last kettle I paid about £3 but like everything this day and age and the economy being the way it is, I was pleasantly surprised that this fantastic kettle was only £4.95. Not only was the price good but it was also easy to set up. Simply take out kettle from the cardboard box, open the kettle, as inside you will find the base. Plug it in, fill the kettle with water and flick the switch and wait for it to boil. The only bad point that I need to make, is not actually about the kettle itself, its more to do with purchasing it. I was unable to buy this Smart Price kettle online with my shopping, I had to go into the store to buy it. I order my shopping online every week so was disappointed to see that the only kettles online that was available to me was ASDAs own, just under £12 and a few more expensive ones. I would give this kettle full marks of five our of five. I hope that this kettle has a much longer life that my old Smart Price kettle of 4 years but for under £5 I really cant complain.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope that it was of some use to you in helping you decided if this kettle is for you. Now lets get the kettle on. Would you like a cup of tea?
