This is a novel idea from Breville a name you can trust when it comes to small kitchen appliances. The hot cup with variable dispense works as an instant hot water dispenser. It has a removable clear blue water tank which you can easily fill from a tap. This then slots into the back of the unit and with the press of a button located at the top it almost instantly boils the water. You first have to place your cup or mug under the nozzle like you would in a coffee vending machine and the water is dispensed. The words "variable dispenser refers to an upgrade for the original model. You can now choose from 9 different cup sizes while with the original (that is still available) you only have the one size.

The main reason for anyone to get one of these is that you only boil the amount of water you are going to use and it boils far quicker than a kettle. This in turn will save you time, and also money on electricity bills. It has a removable drip tray as the water spout drips for a second or two after use. This model does not have a water filter and that makes a huge difference if you live in a heard water area. It has a 2 litre capacity.

The main body of the unit is black while the base and spout are silver. It looks good and works fast although if I was buying one now I would go for the even newer model. This has lots of upgrades including the all important Brita water filter although that one is only 1.8 litre.


This is a great idea for anyone that doesn't have the time or patience to wait around for the kettle to boil.
