Advantages: includes a Brita water filter

Disadvantages: Is heavy when full of water

I came home to find my husband had bought us a new kettle, which surprised me because we didn't really need a new kettle. However, I love this kettle. It gives off a soothing blue glow which turns to red when you switch it on, but its not just pretty to look at, its practical too. Many stainless steel kettles have windows so that you can see how much water is in them, but after a while they begin to leak, as the temperature changes of the different materials eventually damages the seals. The body of this kettle is completely plastic however, and wrapped in a stainless steel outer cover, so there are no joined materials where it can start to leak. Not only that but it has a built in Brita water filterwhich uses the same filters as some brita water filter jugs, so you don't need an extra jug on your worktop to filter the water before you put it into the kettle. The only drawback I find is that it is rather heavy when it is full of water but other than that, its fast and efficient. It's smart, it has a handle that is comfortable to hold, with a button to press with your thumb to lift the lid. It's cordless, in that the kettle itself has no wires, just the base, and the kettle fits easily onto the base. This means no trailing wires when you have boiling water in your hand. It is filled through the main lid, if you try to fill it through the spout you bypass the filter, so that defeats the object of having a water filter kettle. Its quite quiet, and generally excellent quality. It doesn't have a keep warm function. It sells for about £45 , So if you're looking for a good quality kettle with a built in Brita filter, its a good buy

The filter that is in the kettle isn't the same as a Brita or similar water filter jug though - and thats important because there are some kettles on the market that have an actual water filter mechanism similar to Brita. More info on this kettle would be good such as:

Holding it/general design
Filling it -can it be done through the spout rather than through the main lid?
Noise & Quality
Does it have a keep warm function?
Price

Limescale does not burn plastic though - water gauges on kettles can crack due to the boiling rather than limescale.
