Advantages: Super fast boiling, looked great lit up all fancy and lasted four years of hard use.
Disadvantages: Are you kidding me!!!
I have now reviewed a variety of things and sometimes sit down thinking I will review something but cannot think of what, this morning was one of those days then suddenly it came to me, why not review a very good friend of mine that died recently, don't worry folks it`s a kettle not a person.
Around 4 years ago I bought myself a really cheap but really good kettle and just a matter of weeks ago it gave up the ghost, now as sad as I was to see it go I have to be honest and say that I am more than pleased with the service it gave me.
My Breville JK52 Kettle cost me only £19.99 when I purchased it and for a kettle that not only holds 1.7 litres of water but can boil it in under a minute whilst putting on a light show as it does, that semed too good to be true and I feared it might be a case of good for a few months but then let me down.
However four years down the line and it still lit up and still boiled water exceptionally fast and never gave me a minutes bother, now if you enjoy a cup of tea as much as I do then you might just understand when I say I had fallen in love with this kettle.
It looked fairly nice standing there in my kitchen, brushed silver in colour with a nice window so you could see the water level clearly at all times. It stood there proudly on its 360 degree swivel base lighting up when I flicked the switch for it to rapidly boil me some water for my next cuppa.
It wasn't just on the outside that it looked good either, inside it had a hidden element which meant that you didn't get the horrid looking lime scale element to look at when you peered inside, add to this you had the washable filter, a great feature in my opinion, it easily popped out for you to clean and just as simply popped back in ready for you to use your kettle once again.
I really did love my Breville JK52 and the new Breville I have replaced it with at almost twice the cost cannot hold a candle to it either in looks nor in performance, sadly I believe the Breville JK52 has been discontinued as I was unable to find one anywhere, it seems strange they should want to remove such a fine kettle from their range but I guess they had their reasons, probably re-branded it and bumped the price up.
If you are lucky enough to still own one of these or can find one somewhere to buy then I am sure you will agree with me that this is one of the best kettles around and remember all of this cost me less than £20, if that's not great value for money then nothing is!
Summary: A fantastic kettle that will be sadly, sadly missed!
