Advantages: Pretty! Fast Boiling. Water filtration really does make a difference
Disadvantages: A touch pricey to get the filters replaced, refilling does take a little extra time
I never used to be the kind of person who'd consider filtered water, but when my latest kettle decided to pack its bags and head off to silicone heaven, I decided to splurge a little and buy myself a 'reet fancy kettle'.
I chose the Breville kettle because... well okay, I admit it. I liked the pretty colours.
The added bonus was the water filtration, of course, which reduces the lime-scale in the water, and gets rid of the film from your favourite cuppa. I'd never really noticed that film until I started drinking my tea black - and boy, seeing that scum floating at the top of your cup is really enough put you off, I can assure you.
The kettle is quick to boil, but not so quick to refill, a downside that many people have no doubt noticed. Passing the water through the filter at the top can take a few minutes, but a little patience (or just getting the dishes done while you wait) is worth it in the long run.
I haven't come across any other concerns, really. Despite how complex they try to make it sound when they're selling this stuff.. it's a kettle. It does what kettles do. But if you're in the market for something a little special, or you're a really big tea/coffee drinker - I would recommend getting this.
Summary: Pretty lights, clean water, posh counter. What more could I want?
