Advantages: A cup of water very quickly, reduces amount of electricity used
Disadvantages: A bit noisy
Despite the fact I had only recently bought myself a new kettle, when I used this at a friend's house I just had to have one.
Rather than spending a few minutes waiting for the kettle to boil more water than I actually need, this heats enough water for just one cup in less than a minute thus saving time and electric. It is quite noisy but I can put up with that as it makes the noise for a lot shorter time than a conventional kettle.
It has a 1.5 litre tank, which is enough for around 5 cups, shows clearly how much water is remaining and is illuminated when in use. It's 3kw concealed fast boil element makes it very fast and is easy to keep clean.
One of the slight problems I have with it is that is dispenses a little too much water for most of my cups so I often have to pour a little out. I know there are others on the market which have variable cup size and feel this model would benefit from having a similar option.
Whilst it is fantastic for making a quick cup of coffee, I have felt the need to keep my original kettle close at hand for when I need more than one cup of water - for example making gravy. I have justified this to myself, and my husband, by remembering how many cups of coffee I make in a week and thus saving time and energy.
The "kettle" lifts easily off the base for filling and for emptying the drip tray, It is an attractive appliance which I am happy to have in my kitchen.
All in all it is a good appliance but a bit quieter would be fantastic.
Summary: Fantastic machine to heat just the right amount of water in next to no time
