Advantages: Looks great in the kitchen
Disadvantages: Fiddly lid, takes a while to boil when full
I do not normally review electricals but whilst making a coffee this morning I decided to review this kettle in which we have had for about a year now. The initial attraction is the style of the kettle. I liked the fact that you can see the water boil and due to being translucent it didn't look bulky or ugly on the kitchen worktop.
This kettle holds 1.4 litres and weighs around 2kg so is not too heavy when full compared to other kettles. This would be useful for older people or people with weak wrists.
The kettle is black, glass and silver so looks modern and a bit different. The lid is a bit fiddly and this can sometimes be a pain as you think you have secured it on correctly but then the kettle has boiled and you see the lid is not clipped in right. It's then too late to clip it on as the lid is too hot and the steam will scold you.
The flip switch to start the kettle couldn't be easier and is located below the handle. The kettle sits on a base, you just lift the kettle to disconnect it and therefore the kettle itself is cordless when off the base.
The glass is very tough, at first I worried about it exploding when it boiled or hitting it accidently on the tap when filling it but so far the glass has been too tough to be damaged by any knocks. There is also a filter in the spout which is attached to the lid and can be easily rinsed at any time.
The only critisism would be the time it takes to boil. When the kettle is half full or under, the time isn't an issue but when it's full, it seems to take longer than other kettles I have owned.
Overall I'd give this kettle 3 dooyoo stars. One star taken off for the fiddly lid and another for the boiling time but this kettle does look great in the kitchen and has lasted well so far. I wouldn't however spend £50 on this as I feel it's too much just to have an appliance that looks good.
Thank you for reading
Summary: Nice kettle but I wouldn't pay more than £35
