Advantages: steel finish, affordable

Disadvantages: difficult to clean, lime scale deposits

It is a cordless kettle with 1.7 litre water capacity. It has a brushed steel finish with a button release open mechanism for the lid. Quite cosy looking for the price but not really a good one in the long run- won't even last for a few months. It automatically switches off when the water boils but this feature is quite common to many kettles these days.
I bought this cookworks kettle for £15 during a sale. My old kettle was from tefal and I had been using it for 3 years and thought needed a change- not because it was bad but because I was bored of it. But this cookworks kettle gave up very soon after buying it. The boiling was not so efficient as the tefal one and it would take longer. Although made of steel and looks easily cleanable from outside but it would take up quite a lot of kitchen oil on it. I have my kettle beside my hob and whenever I cook there would be some oil drops over the kettle but the problem was with it not coming off so easily. I tried cleaning it with soap too but didn't work. Even the inside of the kettle would take up the lime scale deposits very quickly, unlike my old tefal one; it doesn't get cleaned up easily. I tried using the kettle descalers but won't make much of a difference. You are better off spending a few quid more and buying a tefal one.

Brushed stainless steel kettles always get dirty. Best to use a smidge of toothpaste or bicarb of soda to get all the dirt off. To be fair though if the kettle has a concealed element it should be better at getting limescale out.
