Advantages: Looks great.

Disadvantages: Quite loud, not a great handle.

Our beloved old kettle blew up about 9 months ago so it was time to choose a new one. Had a look around and for the DeLonghi Icona kettle which stood out and screamed 'PLEASE BUY ME! I'LL LOOK GREAT IN YOUR KITCHEN!" - even tho it was well over what I wanted to pay for a new kettle. A few days later it was sat in the kitchen looking very hansome indeed. It's design is funky yet kind of vintage retro, and best of all it matches our blue quartz worktops.

SPEC:
It's a really beautiful blue cordless model that includes a handy limescale filter and boasts a 3 layer gloss paint finish, and is generously detailed with chrome. The top lid is completely removable and it can manage up to 1.7 liters of water, it uses 3kW of power and boils in an instant. The beauty sits on a great 360 degree base. You can tell it's a quality product.

When it's in action it is quite noisy, but this is only for a few minutes - no big deal. It's quite heavey to handle to becareful when lifting if you have weak wrists. I wouldn't recommend to an elderly person, as they could be in danger of scalding themselves. Always remember to hold the handle at the bottom as Ive now scalded myself with the steam on a couple of occasions.

I also believe that you can buy a toaster that will match this particular kettle. But I wouldn't want to buy another one of these due to the design issues, and re-filling can be a pain as you cannot refill from the spout, you have to take the entire lid off to fill.
