Advantages: Great look, works well, handy cord
Disadvantages: None
What can you say about a kettle, well not much really, does it boil water, yes, ok great, it's done its job but in conjuction with my review on my fabulous Delonghi toaster I didn't want to leave the kettle out and thought I would write a little about that too.
As reviewed with the toaster, my husband and I picked the Delonghi kettle purely for its sleek and sexy design. The kettle comes in a lovely gun metal grey colour and is metal not like theses regular plastic types kettles you can pick up for a fiver in most shops. Ok, so it is a bit more expensive, you can buy it for about £20 in most home stores, such as Debenhams but I have a lovely new kitchen so I wanted something a bit stylish and this fitted the bill.
The fettle is almost a dome type shape such as a jug and is bigger at the bottom than the top. It has avery cool arched handle all the way up the kettle which is quite sturdy and holds the kettle well. As the top the lid is metal and has a little plastic round hook for taking the lid off. Now, my one and only complaint with this is that when the kettle has just boiled but you need to fill it up again if you are making tea for lots of people then this top metal lid is very hot and very hard to get off and you will burn your fingers on it. You need to hold the top of the lid when pulling the plastic hood so beware, let it cool down for a bit.
The kettle has a filter on it, a metal mesh filter at the top of the spout to ensure fresh and clean water. This is quite easy to remove and clean and is reusable. I don't think we've replaced it yet and we have had the kettle for about a year and a half.
The kettle sits in a round plastic base which has the plug attached to it. The lovely thing about this is that the extension lead can actually be coiled into the plastic base to whatever length you would like it so no need for unsightly cord on display in your kitchen.
The kettle holds quite a bit of water, enough for one big pot of tea.
All in all a fab kettle to go with a lovely new kitchen and toaster!
Summary: A great Delonghi kettle with style and looks!

Nar2 - 24.04.08 What can you say about a kettle other than what you have already? Well, for the future consumers, handy to know the actual capacity, noise and more importantly the comfort of the handle. Also how well or difficult is that gunmetal grey body easy or hard to clean? |
