Before I get stuck into writing this review I must point out that I am reviewing the kenwood JKP105 kettle and did request a link for it, however although this isn't the same model of kettle as mine, Dooyoo have told me to plonk my review here....just so we are clear on that!
For the past year and a half I have always bought white, economy kettles that were shops own brands. I've had a couple of cheap offerings from Asda and one from Tesco and all gave up the will to live and started leaking and the likes. My last one from Tesco simply decided when it wanted to switch itself on and off and used to scare the living daylights out of me on a regular basis when I was busy doing something else and it would simply click on and generally do weird stuff!
When I moved into this new flat I wanted lots of new things and high on my list of priorities was a nice new, shiny kettle. I have a preference for white kitchen appliances as a rule and so set about looking for another white kettle, but this time from a brand I know of and I was willing to pay out a bit more for it hoping it would last me longer this time!
The Packaging:
It comes in a grey coloured box and on that we are shown plenty of photographs of the kettle and told that it is Kenwood Kettle, JKP105 and that it is a 3kw rapid boil and that it has a hinged locking lid and a dual water window then on the back of the box there are plenty of photographs showing us plenty of the kettle features such as a concealed element, adjustable cord storage, the mesh filter (which traps lime scale) and that it has a boil dry protection and then theres lots of information on there given in Foreign languages and contact details for Kenwood are given. Inside the box there is a small guide in there about caring for the kettle and safety instructions etc. Nice packaging and you get the base with the plug already on it and of course the kettle itself which is jug style.
The Kettle Itself:
I was really pleased with the quality of the kettle as soon as I opened it. It isn't heavy and is sleek and really well made. Course it is made of smooth plastic and has nice lines and it has a water viewing window to each side of it with the word Kenwood in grey writing adorning each side, a nice spout which isn't too long and a longish push button to the back of it which is frosted white in colour and of course lights up blue when in use.
This kettle holds 1.7L of water and measurements are given on each window from 0.5L to the maximum as I have stated. The kettle fits nicely onto the round base and the white cord with the plug on the end although not amazingly long is long enough and all your left to do is boil the kettle!
This is a really, really quiet kettle and I love it! Flip it on, the button goes to blue and illuminates as do the side windows go the same colour till it automatically clicks off so it looks nice in a dimly lit kitchen of an evening! It seems to be a rapid boil taking only a couple of minutes to boil a full kettle.
Its easy to wipe clean, safe with the hinge locking lid and the small filter comes out with a gentle pull to be washed if need be. You can when not in use wind the cord around the base which is ideal for travel and all in all, as you can probably tell by now that I think this is great and compared to the quality I have had in the past when being tight this looks nicer and is superior all the way and I'm so glad I bought it and would definitely repurchase Kenwood products for my home again and in fact have just ordered an electric tin opener from them!
A really nice quality kettle that comes with a two year guarantee they're that confident and I'm that confident I won't need to use it!
I paid £21.55 for this (inc postage and packaging) from Amazon and they are still available on there to purchase though Google if interested too for other prices!
