I purchased this kettle from Tesco Direct around 8 months ago and it is still in good working order. The finish is very attractive high shine steel which looks good in the kitchen and attracts compliments, and it has kept it's looks with very minimal cleaning. It has a good filter which prevents scale from getting into the water. Boiling time is average, not particularly quick but have known slower, but it does make a lot of noise as it boils which is not good for our home layout where the kitchen is part of the living room. I was visiting my friend this week and was offered a cup of tea. IO watched my friend fill and put the kettle on; she was using a Kenwood SJ 680. This is a stainless steel jug style kettle. Most jug kettles are plastic only a few are made in stainless steel these days. Not sure how long my friend has had her kettle for where she bought it and how much it cost her. I looked on line this morning and found one at http://www.ukonlinesales.co.uk/html/kettles_and_coff.html cost £31.50p.
